Languedoc-Roussillon

Languedoc-Roussillon, one of the 26 regions of France, borders Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, Rhône-Alpes, Auvergne, Midi-Pyrénées on the one side, and Spain, Andorra and the Mediterranean sea on the other. Major towns within the department include Alès, Béziers, Carcassonne, Montpellier (the capital), Narbonne, Nîmes, Perpignan and Sète.

The Languedoc-Roussillon region is dominated by vineyards, three times the combined area of the vineyards in Bordeaux, and has been an important winemaking and agricultural region for centuries.
